Overview
Leibovitz's L-15 Medium (L-15) is a specialized basal medium designed for mammalian cell culture under atmospheric air without the need for a CO₂ incubator. Instead of relying on a bicarbonate-CO₂ buffering system, L-15 uses phosphate buffers and free-base amino acids to maintain physiological pH.
Its CO₂-independent formulation makes it the preferred medium for live-cell microscopy, cell transport, tissue dissection, and field-based experiments where conventional incubator conditions are unavailable.
