Overview
McCoy's 5A Medium is a nutrient-rich basal medium formulated to support mammalian cells with high metabolic and nutritional demands. It contains elevated concentrations of amino acids, vitamins, glucose, and nucleosides, making it particularly suitable for primary cultures and rapidly proliferating cancer cell lines.
It is one of the most widely used media in colorectal cancer research and is the recommended basal medium for several commonly used human colon cancer cell lines, including HCT116 and HT-29.
